ECTOS etc still worth anything in Factions?
what do u guys think? will ectos, crystalline swords, dwarvens axes and all those rare and exotic items still be worth the money in factions?
i'm really afraid ectos prices will dip like shiat :P
but then again, if assassins and ritualists have nice FoW armors, ectos would still be in demand. let's just hope they don't reset the prices of ectos / black dyes or those sort of items when faction comes, so those ppl who have factions preview won't be able to buy them like for 500g each or something, lol!
what are ur views?

well for some its a big gamble.. some people have about 250 ectos or even more... so when ectos prices drop with 2k they simply jsut lose 500k!!!
ouach...

I don't think R's or A's will have FoW armor seeing how they can only "start" the game in Cantha. Yes, they can travel back and forth once created, but I'm betting you can only get your armor from Canthian NPCs. I'm guessing FoW equivalent armor will be available from a new location in Cantha
This means the demand for Ectos and Shards will drop. However, there will be less people farming and/or exploring FoW and UW when Factions is released, which will create less supply. So, it may be a gamble either way.

In the radio interview (part 2), the developer mentioned the two "new" materials where Jade and Amber and said they were the "ecto and shard" of factions and there bought with Faction points.
I think they will drop / stay low because the new armor looks much better then FOW does but it will be supply and demand.

They will have foW armor so to speak, but not from the Fissure, Gaile has already said that they will have new armor just like the curent FoW armor, that means ecto, and shards, might still be used.

I only have 40 Ecto’s and am pondering if to keep or sell them before faction is released. But then again, what would I substitute them with?
Until Factions is released speculative stockpiling is a gamble.
I’ve seen many posts on here where people intend to have one of the new characters as a second profession so Ecto’s may keep their value or even increase in the future.
Besides, Ecto’s and Shards have formed such an essential part of the economy that I believe it would be unfair to completely exclude them on the release of Factions.

I'm really interested in this. Does anyone have a screen shot or link of Gaile saying this? Personally, I've only seen her say they will have FoW "equivalent armor".

I don't know if Gaile said there is FoW armors for assasin and ritualist in Tyria? If i didn't see the wrong screenshot, i think she said FoW equivalent armors.

Yeah I cannot rememeber which thread (or Gaile log) but Ritualist and Assassins will have FoW armor.
I rememeber when they annonced that, Ectos were selling for 5.5k from people and it jumped to 9k that day since people started to buy a lot of them.

People have spent a lot of time and effort getting hold of FoW armour, I don't see Anet doing anything to piss them all off. There may be "different" armours in Factions but I doubt they will do anything to make FoW any less than what it currently represents - top of the line.

FoW armour will always be there and Ectos are good 'currency' to make big trades so I don't see any radical changes into that area.
Many of us have storages full of ecto stacks and I think the price of ectos is almost rock bottom right now. As well as shard prices.

One of the things that's interesting and related to this why people are paying high prices for things like 15^50 fellblades/musraat bows etc. When I think about spending plat on those things I'm always stopped short by the lurking thought that Factions may have something more cool looking and more valuable.
Maybe they're a safe bet now, but within a week or two they may be much less sought after.
Am I being paranoid?

I believe Gaile said this the night of "the outage" when shard prices were reset.
So look for the log on whatever day that was.
